About me

Hi there!

After 2 years of blogging, I've finally decided to write an 'About Me' page- eventhough it's one of the first pages i always go to on other people's blogs!

So I'm Von, the author of this blog (doh!) and currently a first year uni student who loves cooking and eating in her spare time! I started this blog back in Year 11 (or my second last year of high school) in hopes of motivating myself to put more effort into my baking. Strange reason, I know, but true. I've written about how I got into baking here but my first two or so years of baking only consisted of baking very simple chocolate cakes, choc chip cookies, one or two sponge cakes and a couple of other things that weren't really too adventurous. And I was met with a lot more failures than successes.

Somewhere along the line, I discovered the wonderful world of food blogs and thought it would be nice to start one, not only to document my various baking adventures, but to motivate myself to try harder to make sure that everything I made was success.

I began blogging about restaurants as well as the food I baked myself, because when I started blogging, I was only baking about once a month, which would have made for a very boring blog. It didn't take me long to start liking blogging about restaurants, and photographing food I eat has now become a habit of mine, much to the displeasure of my parents (my usual dining companions)!

I now bake a lot more than I used and have somewhat ventured into the world of cooking (though I enjoy baking more). Like most bloggers, I love trying out new recipes and tend only to make each recipe once, unless it's so good, I just have to make it again and again! I tend to like complicated recipes more than simple ones, especially ones with new and difficult techniques, but I'm also quite lazy so it's not often that I attempt them. Oh, and while I'm at it, I'm Asian- hence all the Asian recipes you may find on this blog :)
